Sustainable Development Embraced by Persimmon Homes and Jackson Rowe
23 January 2026
Green skills and sustainability are a key objective for Employment and Skills Plan delivered in conjunction with Winchester City Council. Persimmon Homes have been working Jackson Rowe on their Employment & Skills Plan for the Cygnet Grange development in Swanmore, and this case study reflects their ongoing commitment to providing social value through housing delivery.
As towns and cities expand to meet growing housing demand, new build developments have become a defining feature of our landscapes. While these projects are essential for economic growth and housing supply, their long-term success depends on more than the number of homes delivered.
One of the most critical, yet sometimes undervalued, elements of sustainable development is the integration of high-quality green spaces. Parks, gardens, green corridors, and natural play areas are not optional extras; they are fundamental to healthy, resilient, and desirable communities.
Persimmon Homes understand this, which is why their new development, Cygnet Grange in Swanmore, has been built to be surrounded by a green corridor. This green space includes trees and existing grassland which has been retained and protected during the construction stage.
By placing nature as an integral part of the development, Persimmon Homes have created a place that is not only built to last but also designed to nurture the people and environments that depend on them.
In addition to green skills targets, Jackson Rowe and Persimmon have created opportunities for a work experience placement, 2 new jobs for local people, hosted or attended 12 career events in local schools, colleges and job centres whilst also upskilled local workers to assist them in the next step of their career.
