On Site Learning With Jackson Rowe Employment & Skills
12 February 2026
Last Friday, Jackson Rowe teamed up with Indurent and Barnwood to welcome construction students from Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) for an immersive site visit in Basingstoke. Engaging directly with employers is a key part of their programme, and this visit gave them a real-world look at the industry they’re preparing for.
During the visit, students explored a range of construction career paths they may not have encountered before, learned about Barnwood’s work with apprentices, and heard first-hand insights from a Contracts Manager about their journey and passion for the sector. After a full site induction the group headed out for a guided tour of the live project. Harry Rippon, Head of Employment & Skills at Jackson Rowe said “It was a fantastic opportunity for these young people to get out of the classroom and into a living, breathing site. Not only do they get to see an active site in the heart of their community, but they also got the chance to meet real professionals who, later down the line, could be very influential in their careers.”
Steve Gilder, Head of Construction at BCoT, shared his appreciation for the visit and expressed enthusiasm for further collaboration. As a next step, Jackson Rowe is working with BCoT to arrange short work experience placements for some of the students – so watch this space.
