Jackson Rowe ‘Careers in Construction’ Workshops very well received

11 October 2021

Last Wednesday our Employment & Skills Coordinator, Harry Rippon, visited The Cowplain School to deliver 4 separate Careers in Construction workshops to Year 8 classes (12/13 year olds).

As well as learning about some of the different roles on offer within the construction industry, the students got a chance to learn about the process of building a house, before spending time designing their own dream home.

Hannah West, Careers Advisor, said: “the feedback from the event on Wednesday was very positive! Over half the pupils who attended changed their opinion of a career in construction between the beginning and end of the event, which says to me that they got new information from the event and/or had a chance to reflect on what is right for them. As a Careers Advisor, this is just what I want to see from a careers event – thank you Harry!”

James Maw, Development Coordinator (Employment & Skills), said: “I wanted to touch base and let you know how invaluable Harry has been to our Careers offering recently. The School and Careers Advisor have fed back and said how engaging the sessions were and how much knowledge was exchanged.”
