Dan Miles, Director

Dan commenced his career as a Director of his own Company, DRL Solutions Ltd, specialising in Land Investigation utilising non invasive radar surveys. His work included participation in a research project, through the Southampton of University, into the use of sensor networks in monitoring sub-glacial and glacial activity. In this project he was responsible for undertaking ground penetrating radar surveys of the glacier, for which his work was nominated for a national prize with the National Environmental Research Council.
Dan then developed his businesses to cover wider aspects of environmental solutions and Quantity Surveying before merging with Rob Miles at RJ & AM Services Ltd to form Miles Miles Ltd in 2005. Following the merger, the company continued to grow from a team of three to a Quantity Surveying business employing circa 20 surveyors.
Dan has worked on a variety of projects in the Civil Engineering Sector for National Civil Engineering Contractors and Client organisations, on both pre-contract and post-contract work including tendering, estimating, bid management, on-site quantity surveying and claims & disputes.
During Dan’s time at Miles Miles he developed the dispute resolution side of the business, including Alternative Dispute Resolution. As part of developing this aspect of the business he completed an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at Kings College London, focusing on the Enforceability of Adjudicators Awards under the New Construction Act 2011 for his dissertation.
In 2011, following the acquisition of Miles Miles Ltd, Dan joined the Board of Jackson Rowe as a Director.
Dan has 10 years experience in the Building, Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, Highways, Utilities, Local Government, Residential, Defence, Environmental, Waste to Energy, Recycling and Marine/Waterways Sectors. Dan has gained considerable experience in the use of the NEC contract and the promotion of collaborative working in both term contracts and single project contracts.
Dan is responsible for growing and maintaining commissions alongside his fellow Directors.
Dan is a member of The Adjudication Society, The Society of Construction Law and Kings College Construction Law Association.
